ZZ Top is an American rock band that was formed in 1969 by bassist and lead vocalist Dusty Hill, guitarist and lead vocalist Billy Gibbons, and drummer Frank Beard. Originating in Houston, Texas, ZZ Top is recognized as one of few major label recording groups to have held its same lineup for more than 40 years. The band is well known for the strong blues-inspired rock that influenced their early albums, but their musical style has grown over the years to include new wave, punk rock, and dance-rock.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, ZZ Top has produced eleven gold records and seven platinum records throughout their career. With over 25 million sold, the band also ranks 80th in U.S. albums sales.
