Counting Crows with Citizen Cope

The Counting Crows are following up their critically-acclaimed seventh album, Somewhere Under Wonderland, with the US leg of their 2015 worldwide tour after the band returns from sold-out shows throughout Europe, Australia, and Canada with a stop in Bethlehem.

Joining the multiplatinum band as the tour’s special guests will be Citizen Cope, known for his trademark mix of soul, folk, and R&B during his commanding live shows, and Outlaw Road Show favorites Hollis Brown.

Recognized as one of the most dynamic live bands performing today, – having sold more than 20 million albums worldwide after exploding onto the music scene with their multiplatinum breakout album August and Everything After in 1993.

Counting Crows will be performing songs from their seventh studio album, the 2014 Top 10 album, Somewhere Under Wonderland, which critics have been claiming as the “band’s best”, as well as hits from their extensive catalog.

Dug deep into the rich soil of American music, Citizen Cope’s roots are complex You may think of Bill Withers or Neil Young or John Lee Hooker or Van Morrison or Willie Nelson or Al Green. Yet, listening to Cope, you also may think of none of the above. You may not think at all, but rather feel a man exposing stories that haunt his heart.

He was born Clarence Greenwood, a child of the seventies, and his life journey is as singular as his art. His sounds are southern rural, big sky lonely, concrete urban, and painfully romantic.
In the past nine years, he has produced four albums of depth and distinction, each a critical chapter in his search for a sound that paints an auditory American landscape in which despair wars with hope and hope, tied to love, is elusive.

Since its formation in 2009, the scrappy New York outfit known as Hollis Brown has emerged as one of America’s most compelling young rock ‘n’ roll acts. Drawing from a bottomless well of classic influences yet firmly rooted in the present, the band’s output has steadily evolved from the raw immediacy of its early releases to the more expansive, adventurous approach that fuels its bracing new album 3 Shots.

Their 2013 indie album Ride on the Train helped to win the band an enthusiastic international fan base while attracting copious critical acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, Spin and American Songwriter. The musicians embraced a rigorous road regimen, touring across America as well as several European countries. Before long, the band’s songs began turning up in such places as MTV’s Real World, Showtime’s Shameless and the Willem Dafoe/Matt Dillon film Bad Country.
