In the course of Chris Isaak’s career, he has released ten extraordinary albums, including the critically acclaimed new album First Comes The Night, twelve singles, been nominated for two Grammy awards, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own critically acclaimed TV series. His haunting voice, fierce guitar, glittered outfits and legendary shows with his stellar bandmates Silvertone have entertained tens of thousands of people for over two decades.
It is hard to classify Isaak with one genre of music since he displays many different musical personas: the rockabilly rebel (“Dancin’,” “Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing,” “Speak Of The Devil”), the brokenhearted crooner (“Wicked Game,” “Somebody’s Crying”), and the breezy acoustic storyteller (“San Francisco Days,” “Two Hearts”).
First Comes the Night on Vanguard Records is Isaak’s first recording of original songs in six years. It was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles and produced by Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell), Paul Worley (Dixie Chicks, Lady Antebellum), and longtime collaborator Mark Needham. First Comes the Night is the follow up to Isaak’s 2011 Beyond The Sun masterpiece CD - a breathtaking tribute album to Sun Records, Sam Phillips and the visionary artists who continue to inspire him and helped shape the early sounds of rock ‘n’ roll.
Knowns as a supreme showman and one of the funniest live performers today, Isaak is a non-stop touring Grammy nominated singer-songwriter, actor and talk show host. He has appeared on many TV shows and has acted in several films and starred in Showtime’s The Chris Isaak Show and the Chris Isaak Hour on the Biography Channel. He was a recent judge on the X-Factor in Australia, performed at the opening of the Super Bowl festivities in San Francisco and was recently profiled on CBS Sunday Morning.
